Amazing success story for new sustainable Avocado Trays
Multinational Westfalia Fruit Group is a trusted supplier of fresh and processed produce to international markets, offering a wide range of quality fruit through its globally integrated supply chain.
Operating across multiple continents, Westfalia has the most diverse avocado growing footprint and prioritises the wellbeing of both it’s staff and the environment.
When Westfalia Fruit were looking for a way to automatically feed a sustainable card carry pack for avocados specially developed for retail customers, they approached Partners in Packaging (Machine Systems) Ltd for a solution.
The A Series-four denester-placer is capable of denesting up to 120 of the carry pack trays from bulk stacks every minute and placing them onto a conveyor. After the packs are filled with avocados, they are automatically sealed and packed into the supermarket crates for despatch.
In addition to being practical, the card carry pack is fully printed illustrating the premium brand contents.
“We initially saw a similar machine handling card trays at the PPMA show in Birmingham said Westfalia’s UK operations manager John Woods. “We liked the simplicity of the machine and its hygienic design, with their experience in handling card trays we were confident Partners would be a good supplier to work with. They were also able to prove that they could denest the trays reliably by running them on a test rig in their workshop.”
The design of the carry pack is quite special, however the flexibility of the A Series and our track record in card tray denesting meant that we could offer a relatively standard solution and not negatively affect packing speeds.
Partners in Packaging are the leading UK manufacturer, of Pick and Place Tray Denesting and Base Card Feeding Solutions.
